You may be an experienced Director, or seeking your first appointment at board level. In both cases you will find this role both challenging and rewarding. You may be working in a similar role within either the private or wider public service sectors, for this role prior knowledge of working within the NHS is NOT essential. What is important are the skills and competencies you are able to bring to the board table and our organisation.
The Wirral is a great location to live and work. There is a rich mix of countryside, conservation areas and easy access to Liverpool, Cheshire and North Wales via the motorway network. For more information please visit www.visitwirral.com
Working with the Chief Executive and Board, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing and implementing communication and stakeholder management strategies and plans, which bring together our staff, patients, stakeholders and local residents. This will ensure that in the future, Wirral PCT is able to provide local access to high quality services close to home, avoiding un-necessary visits to hospital. This may mean that services have to be re-designed and provided in new ways and so working with the public and patients will be crucial to achieving this aim.
You will be able to see from the information in this pack that the role has many dimensions, probably around 60% of which will be spent working externally, engaging with stakeholders, the public and healthcare providers. This will require diplomacy, outstanding influencing skills along with the ability to think, act and work strategically. You must be comfortable and experienced in doing so. In exchange, you have the opportunity to play a meaningful and influential role in the future provision of healthcare across the Wirral.
