The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club has been synonymous with hosting the world's most prestigious Grand Slam Tournament since 1877. The Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon have developed from the garden party atmosphere of the first meeting, to a highly professional tournament attracting an attendance over 450,000 people. Players from over 60 nations regularly compete in front of a crowd of millions worldwide, through the press, radio, internet and television. In addition to The Championships, the Club runs a range of commercial ventures including a museum, award winning guided tours, new media, catering and retail outlets, and is currently in the process of a major redevelopment of Centre Court.
