The London Borough of Tower Hamlets has ambitious plans and is a Council which is improving as judged in the 2005 CPA assessment, which resulted in an overall 3 star rating.

The Opportunities

The Directorate of Environment & Culture delivers some of the London Borough of Tower Hamlet’s most important services (Cleansing, Waste Disposal, Transportation, and Environmental Health) and is leading on a number of innovative projects e.g. the Borough’s celebrated Idea Stores,( bringing together Libraries and Life Long Learning in one building).

To enable the Directorate to deliver against its challenging objectives, two new posts for Financial & Project Accountants with strong business planning expertise have been created. Core to the roles will be a proactive approach focused on solutions and efficiency savings. The Directorate also seeks a Senior Finance Officer to assist in the Council’s key financial processes and ensure the provision of high quality financial information.

Financial & Project Accountants x 2 P04 – salary range £35,600 - £38,000

To bring new solutions and ideas for efficiency savings to services and projects. To provide specialist technical expertise in relation to project development, monitoring and financial control.

Senior Finance Officer S02 – salary range £28,500 – £30,000

To co-ordinate and undertake the accounting, monitoring and control functions and processes and provide high quality financial information
