Barnsley, situated on the edge of the Peak District and Pennine Yorkshire, offers a unique destination for the visitor. Its spectacular landscape dotted with picturesque villages, historic market towns, rich industrial heritage, popular family attractions and the rural tourism attraction of our delightful countryside offers a real treat for all ages.
Surrounding area
Yorkshire is a beautiful area of the UK. It has three National Parks, the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and the Peak District. It also includes the stunning moorland of the Bronte Country and the picturesque Yorkshire coastline which is said to be amongst the finest in Britain, much of which is protected as a Heritage Coast. Wander the streets of ancient York, ride the legendary Settle-Carlisle Railway and cross the mighty Humber, one of the world's longest span suspension bridges. For the media enthusiast a visit to the National Media Museum in Bradford is a must with its 48 foot high IMAX cinema screen showing both 2 and 3D films.

Leeds, approximately 15 miles north of Barnsley, accessed via the M1 is known as the ‘Knightsbridge of the North’ and over the last 10 years has seen a huge regeneration and improvement programme.
Its fantastic shopping including the famous ‘Harvey Nichols’ department store and the very stylish Victorian shopping arcade ‘Victoria Quarter’ which houses many designer stores including Vivienne Westwood, Reiss, Louis Vuitton and too many more to mention attracts the young professional looking for a cosmopolitan city to live in which has easy access to the A1/M1 links.
Just down the road from Barnsley is the famous Meadowhall shopping complex,with over 270 stores, more than 30 restaurants and fast-food outlets and an 11-screen cinema complex. The Centre is home to major department stores and all your favourite high street names, as well as individual designer boutiques, specialist shops and lots of fun for the children, with a crèche, outdoor playground, amusements and a raft of mall entertainment.
