Commercial Manager
Salary: Up to £64,118

The Role
A strategic role to put the Arms Length Provider Organisation (APO) on a strong commercial footing by:
- Facilitating and generating new business opportunities for Provider Services by proactively scanning for tender opportunities.
- Developing long-term partnerships / strong relationships to retain business and successfully manage bids.
- Taking a lead role in responding to tender opportunities and bids.
- Leading on contracts management, working closely with the associate Director for Finance.

Responsibilities
Develop and maintain in depth knowledge of APO portfolio of services, capabilities and other offerings from a business development perspective. The post holder will:
- Develop and maintain familiarity with the marketplace offerings and trends and provide relevant feedback to APO Director of Innovation, Business Development and Performance.
- Proactively develop new business relationships with organisations that fully maintain strategic portfolio i.e. PCT Commissioner Practice Based commissioning clusters, acute trust.
- Generate opportunities for new business through research and make contact where possible. Proactively identify and qualify leads for potentially significant new business development opportunities.
- Maintain awareness of relationship management activity.
- Maintain and manage contracts for Provider Services working closely with Associate Director of Finance.
- Manage and lead the Business Development team to produce professional high standard tender responses/business cases. Ensure best practice is adhered to from decisions as to whether or not to bid, through to new bid being awarded.
- Work with colleagues and clinical teams, as appropriate, to gather background information to support business cases, including appropriate activity and financial information as required.
- Provide input into the marketing strategy and business plans.
Person Specification
- Demonstrable experience in similar positions with a good understanding of corporate relationship management.
- Proven ability within tender and bid response; able to demonstrate significant success in writing, presenting and winning proposals and tenders.
- Able to demonstrate significant success in identifying, qualifying and proactively generating new business opportunities.
- Understanding of the health care environment advantageous.
- Well-developed commercial awareness and business insight, with ability to understand what makes a successful business.
