About the School

St. John’s Ladywood is a voluntary controlled inner city Church of England Primary School. They take children from the age of 4 until the age of 11. There are 169 pupils on the roll and a dedicated team of 10 teaching and 10 support staff. Situated in the heart of Birmingham, close to the Symphony Hall and the National Indoor Arena, the area is one of re-generation and growth.

“Children do especially well in their personal, social and emotional development because the high expectations of all adults enable children quickly to learn routines and to gain confidence. Teaching is good. Basic skills are taught systematically and adults use assessment information well to plan each child's next steps.” OFSTED March 2008

They offer a broad curriculum that is constantly under review and designed to enable children to obtain knowledge, develop skills and understanding and to be aware of personal and spiritual values.

With support from parents, they strive to achieve the best for every child in school. Your child’s development is important to us and we welcome parents’ involvement.

“Pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is good. There are good links with local churches and these ensure that pupils' spiritual awareness is especially strong. Pupils from different backgrounds or cultures play together happily.” OFSTED March 2008

St Johns Ladywood value their staff and pride themselves in taking a genuine interest in both their personal and their professional development. The school offers a warm and supportive environment where staff are committed to developing their careers and encouraged to make a valuable contribution to the team.
