
Severndale School is located in the medieval market town of Shrewsbury, the county town of Shropshire. Shrewsbury boasts over 600 listed buildings including the castle, now the Shropshire Regimental Museum, and the world famous Shrewsbury Abbey. The historic centre has excellent shopping facilities and is packed with designer shops, smart new malls and an amazing range of independent retailers. As one of the UK’s most successful new towns, Telford really is a town for the future with its impressive buildings and high tech business parks. The town has a multitude of excellent amenities including being home to the biggest and busiest shopping centre in Shropshire as well as being able offer an element of culture in the form of many cafes, restaurants and the renowned Oakengates Theatre at The Place with its varied programme of music, comedy, drama shows and pantomime. Other amenities include a super ice rink and a ten screen cinema within a few minutes walk from the shopping areas.
Shropshire also has many areas of outstanding natural beauty to offer visitors including 30 sites run by the Wildlife Trust. Due to being geologically unique as a county, special habitats have been created ensuring that Shropshire wildlife is so diverse making it a great walking county. Shropshire also has over 90 visitor attractions including Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom and Wonderland, Ironbridge Gorge Museums, Severn Valley Railway, Weston Park and Stokesay Castle. One of the most famous attractions in Shropshire is the historic town of Ironbridge, home to the world’s first cast iron bridge spanning the River Severn and is regarded as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution making the area a UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside other great structures including the Taj Mahal and the Pyramids.
Shrewsbury is situated on the border of England and Wales with excellent motorway links being only 10 minutes away from the M54 with direct links to the M6 and the rest of the national motorway network. Within easy distance are two large international cities, Manchester and Birmingham, with excellent road and rail links to both. This also gives you access to the International airports located in both cities.
