Slough is best described as an urban, buzzing place with vitality. It is also a place of spaces and waterways on the edge of beautiful countryside to complement the urban feel of the town.

Creative, dynamic and innovative

The town has an increasing reputation for leisure facilities, shopping and events. Slough is also developing as a cultural centre, with emerging young talent joining the more established cultural industries to create new and exciting work and leisure opportunities. Cultural and media industries are thriving in Slough, with more than 80 media production companies based in the town.

Slough benefits from a theatre, multiplex cinema, ice arena and has a number of council-owned and private health clubs. The council also owns The Centre, a regional event and exhibition venue that hosts weddings, conferences, exhibitions and numerous entertainment events. Slough Museum, based in the centre of the town traces the history of the town and the region and hosts numerous exhibitions and displays.

Well connected

Located along the M4 corridor, Slough is close to Heathrow Airport and is within easy access of the M40, which runs to the Midlands, the M1, which runs to the North, the M3 to the South and the M25. The town is also served by a mainline train station into central London - 15 minutes from Paddington.

A shoppers' paradise

The town centre has two indoor shopping complexes and many of the major high street retailers such as Debenhams, Marks and Spencer, Next, HMV, Boots, Hennes, TK Maxx and numerous other local shops. The pedestrianised piazza is the platform for entertainment, events and festivals in the town and is surrounded by more than 300 shops, restaurants and pubs. The diverse cultures of Slough offer an exciting mix and range of restaurants, serving most foods. A major town centre regeneration initiative, Art at the Centre has also been launched to transform Slough High Street. With excellent road, rail and bus links and more than 3,500 parking spaces in the town centre, people from around the region are choosing to come to Slough.

Arts and entertainment

Events such as the Canal Festival (held alongside the Slough arm of the Grand Union Canal) and the firework display, have become annual events attracting people from all of our communities and the wider area.
