Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust (RUH) occupies a single 52-acre site close to the city of Bath, servicing 450, 000 patients across the catchment areas of three Primary Care Trusts. RUH employs 4,000 staff who provide a complex array of general acute and cancer services generating an income of c.£190 million per annum. The past two years has seen significant ground-breaking change for the Trust, which is now in financial balance, has a below average cost base and, is now recognised amongst the top 40 highest performing hospitals for patient safety and quality of care.

The Trust has a solid platform from which it can advance further and to harness and maximise the potential for future growth, investment in the support infrastructure is now crucial. The immediate priorities for our Director of Facilities include:

  • Managing a significant facilities, property and estates department of 444 staff – developing and coordinating delivery to support the Trust’s provision of outstanding high quality patient services.
  • Developing the estates strategy, leading the implementation of a customer focussed capital development programme and site development and associated transport infrastructure strategy.
  • Working closely with the Chief Executive and Director of Nursing to develop an integrated approach to improving the whole patient care experience, whilst actively contributing at strategic and operational levels to make the Trust’s stated ambition, a reality.
