The Opportunity

People and Development Director

The Trust has recently approved a new people and development strategy encompassing HR, learning and development and organisational development. The strategy has full board support and successful implementation is critical to the future success of the trust.

This role will report directly into the Executive Director of Operations, Michael McCourt. The role will work closely with board members and it is therefore important that the successful candidate has credibility in the Boardroom and is able to assimilate and present facts in an evidence based, robust manner, and influence strategic direction on people and development matters.

The role covers both operational and strategic elements and the successful applicant will be responsible for integrating and aligning business strategies with creative and sustainable approaches to people management and development.

Key characteristics being sought are tenacity, robustness, assertiveness and someone who can take the lead and be pro-active.

The Trust operates in a highly political environment and therefore the successful candidate will need to demonstrate political astuteness and sensitivity.

The board comprises individuals with significant experience in the NHS and within other industry sectors and therefore it will be imperative for the successful candidates to be able to present business cases in an evidenced based manner. Influencing and persuading skills will be vital to ensure buy in from a range of stakeholders across the organisation.

Experience within the NHS is not required, what is more important is the strategic and operational experience and the characteristics that the individual brings to the table.
