NHS Connecting for Health works in partnership with the NHS and its suppliers to implement new systems and services in planned phases. National Application Service Providers (NASPs) are responsible for the delivery of IT systems common to all users nationally, with Local Service Providers (LSPs) responsible for delivery of and integrating IT systems common to users in the three Programmes for IT

NHS Connecting for Health (NHS CFH) is an agency of the Department of Health and employs a mix of staff drawn from across the NHS, the civil service, academia and the private sector. It uses this rich diversity of experience – encompassing management, IT, clinical and medical skills – to support the delivery of the National Programme for IT and so provide better, safer care for patients.

The agency also has delegated authority and accountability arrangements that are set out in an operating agreement. These govern the way the agency operates in and forms its informatics strategy and delivery across healthcare.

Overall direction of NHS CFH is provided by the Agency Management Board, supported by an Agency Management Team (AMT) which confirms the organisation's directions, targets, values and behaviours, taking into account the Department of Health's Single Equality Scheme requirements.
