Director of Finance & Corporate Services
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Director of Finance & Corporate Services will be a key member of the corporate leadership team for the new Executive Agency of approximately 900 staff.
As Director of Finance & Corporate Services you will, first and foremost, form a key part of the senior management team with shared responsibility for corporate activity as well as particular responsibility for the management of the Agency’s financial and other corporate support services.
You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality financial management within the Agency and will play a critical role in managing its assets. You will work with managers at all levels in order to ensure financially effective and strategic business planning and decision-making and to advise the Chief Executive on the use of resources throughout the organisation.
You will play a key role in establishing the financial management structure of the agency, ensuring the rigour of internal accounting systems that serve the business, rather than enslave it.
You will also have high level oversight of third party contracts for supply of facilities and information technology as well as for idenitifying and exploiting further opportunities to improve efficiency of support services.
Main Duties
- Play a key role in establishing, directing and achieving the strategic aims and objectives of the new Agency, ensuring that the considerable infrastructure is fully exploited. You will have a highly visible role, providing guidance and leadership to the organisation.
- Take an equal and active part in the work of the corporate leadership of the organisation, working closely with fellow Directors and staff to quickly establish the new Agency and drive it forward to exploit the opportunities offered by the merger of the constituent parts.
- Take a lead role in developing the culture of the new organisation with a particular view to increasing customer-focus and, where appropriate, to raising the appetite for risk among managers and staff.
- Bring a strategic business focus to the work of the Agency, ensuring the efficient use of funds, intellectual property and other resources in such a way as to help in the delivery of the Agency’s services.
- Support the Chief Accounting Officer through the development of strategic financial risk analysis in support of organisational risk management.
- Oversee the development of a fit-for-purpose suite of policies and related IT solutions (for organisation and people development, finance & procurement, facilities management, etc) to meet the needs of a responsive and flexible organisation. As part of this you will drive forward the Agency’s e-nabling agenda, constantly reviewing the most appropriate and best value way of delivering this.
- Lead and co-ordinate the production of the Agency’s business plans and Annual Report & Accounts.
- Head up an operational workforce of approximately 100 employees with direct management of a small team of senior managers. You will lead by example and champion the core Agency values throughout the corporate and financial delivery processes.
