With the motorway networks being so accessible this school is not only a short distance away from the vibrant city of Manchester but also a short trip away from the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, Pennine Way, Lake District and North Wales.

Surrounding Area, Manchester

From spectacularly colourful festivals and cultural events to sport and live music, Manchester has it all. As one of the most exciting and dazzling places in the UK whatever you’re looking for be it: food, drink, shopping or socialising: Manchester is the place to do it. Manchester has lots to be proud of from its cosmopolitan atmosphere to its sporting and musical successes. The city has rich layers of history which are integrated with new, modern buildings; it is this contrast that demonstrates the forward thinking attitude of Manchester.

As the capital of the north, Manchester is easy access for towns and cities across the North West. For those of you who want to get away from it all, Manchester is only a short drive away from the seaside town of Blackpool, if you don’t fancy “Kiss Me Quick Hats” and sticks of rock, stay in the car a little longer and you’ll be greeted by the beautiful and breathe taking scenery of the Lake District. If you want to go a little further Manchester Airport, the third largest in the country, offers flights all over the world – short haul and long haul. The airport is easy access by car, bus or train.

Liverpool

The European Capital of Culture in 2008 beat off tough competition to win this fantastic award. Liverpool is a centre of maritime, cultural and sporting excellence. The city is best known for being the birth pace of The Beatles whose legacy can still be seen all over the city with places like Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields being established tourist hotspots.

The city is also home to a number of museums and visitor attractions including: World Museum Liverpool, Walker Art Gallery, Tate Liverpool, Merseyside Maritime Museum, The Beatles Story and more!

Lancashire

In contrast to the bright lights of Liverpool and Manchester, Lancashire offers a more relaxed atmosphere where walkers will love the peace of the Lancashire Dales, the Forest of Bowland's silent hills and the deserted lanes which lead to eerie Pendle Hill, surrounded by stories and legends of the infamous Pendle witches.

If this appeals to you why not visit the Ribble Valley which lies in the north east of Lancashire, the majority of which forms part of the Forest of Bowland AONB, the first protected area in England to be awarded the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas.

So, if you're a nature lover, Ribble Valley will inspire you. Whether walking, cycling, on horseback or touring by car you will stumble across the many ever-changing habitats for Britain's rare species of birds, wildlife, flora and fauna. Gentle lowland, criss-crossed with dry stonewalls dotted with picturesque farms, villages, and ancient churches offer endless opportunities for the artist or photographer in you.
