Welcome

A letter from Gill Kilpatrick, Director of Finance

IGill am delighted that you are interested in these important posts within finance at Lancashire County Council.

The finance team is an important part of Lancashire County Council, supporting the county council's drive to make a difference to the communities of Lancashire.

We carry out a full range of financial services ranging from financial leadership to internal audit, financial management to treasury management, and pensions services to procurement. As well as to providing these services to the county council, we also provide a range of services to Lancashire Pension Fund, Lancashire Police Authority, Lancashire Combined Fire Authority and a range of partnerships.

We have an excellent reputation, judged by feedback from clients and the 4 out of 4 score we have achieved for use of resources in the Comprehensive Performance Assessment. We work hard to provide excellent, value for money services. Excellent financial management is critical to enable the county council to deliver on its priorities, and in doing so we make a difference to the lives of people within Lancashire. We have a key leadership role to ensure that we get as much as possible from the county council's financial resources.

Lancashire is a large and diverse place. With a gross revenue budget of £1.8bn, a capital programme of £200m and a Pension Fund of £3bn, the financial challenges are many and varied, the solutions which balance conflicting interests and requirements are not always easily found. A career in finance at Lancashire will put you at the heart of an organisation focused on improvement and which will develop your personal and professional skills.

I am proud to be a member of the finance team at Lancashire and I am keen to maintain a strong finance team which encourages innovation and a flexible approach within a challenging environment. If you feel you have the drive, skills and enthusiasm to be a part of this team, I am keen to hear from you.

With best wishes

Gill Kilpatrick
