Dear Colleague,
Imagine teaching in a school where all your students are aiming for the highest GCSE and A Level grades, where they really want to learn and are interested in your subject, where they want to go on and study it at university. Imagine a school where you are able to get on with teaching, where you can try out new ideas, where you do not have to maintain discipline all the time, where you can relax in the classroom. Imagine a caring school where young people from all faiths and backgrounds are friends. That is King Edward VI Handsworth School!
I would like you to consider joining my staff by applying for the advertised post. We have an excellent welcome and induction programme for new teachers and you would be provided with a colleague mentor too. We truly believe in life-long learning and, like all staff here, you would be encouraged to gain additional qualifications through the NCSL and local universities as well as attend short courses relevant to your subject or professional development. We are keen to embrace new initiatives that help make the learning experience for our students even better and you would take part in our in-house inset programme, where we can attract speakers of national renown.
Everyone who comes here – even OFSTED inspectors! – says what a lovely atmosphere the school has. There is a sense of purpose, a friendliness that is rather special. It is the staff and students who make it this way.
Well, that’s enough of me. Click here to read about what some of my colleagues and girls say about life here.
With best wishes for your future career.
Yours sincerely
Dr Elspeth V Insch OBE
Headmistess
