The John Madejski Academy offers state-of-the-art facilities and innovative and creative learning opportunities to the young people of South Reading. Our entirely new build opened in February 2007 and is nothing short of an amazing learning environment. Our specialism is sport and our delivery of the whole curriculum is unpinned by a sporting ethos of participation, motivation, aspiration and achievement . We have strong and valued community links through extended schools programmes and local business and educational partnerships. Whilst still one of the most challenging schools in the country, since opening we have made significant improvements in achievement under all key areas of the curriculum.

Our staff form a dedicated team operating in an environment of respect and mutual support and there are real opportunities for individual development.  New staff looking to relocate are offered a significant re-location package, and we also have some staff accommodation available for NQTs. Both teaching and non-teaching staff are organised into a four Schools working on the school within school model concentrating on the academic progress of each student with pastoral support.  Schools are Directorate based and comprise vertical student tutor groups. All staff are covered under a private health care scheme. We also have attractive staff membership rates at the AcademySport Leisure Centre.
