Hadley Learning Community Secondary Phase
Hadley Learning Community is an all though school with students in primary and secondary phases - we were one of the first such maintained schools in the country. We have 420 students in primary phase and 850 in secondary. Most teachers in the secondary school teach students in the 11-16 age range - but there is opportunity to teach your subject to primary age children. We currently have 17 teachers who deliver lessons to Yrs 2 - 6 for at least one hour per week (often in the specialist areas in the secondary part of the building) - and we see this development as a real strength!
Our building - which was completed in 2006 - is a remarkable one and offers state of the art facilities in all areas of the curriculum. Of course education, teaching and learning is about much more than buildings, but I do strongly believe that pleasant, friendly and business-like environments have their part to play in encouraging learning.
We place great emphasis on the development of the whole individual and my colleagues here have a real "connectivity" with young people.
The community that we serve is delighted to have a new and visionary school at its heart. Parents and governors are very supportive of partnership working. Our attendance at parent consultation days and community events is excellent.
Like several schools in the local area we are a National Challenge school - and we are using the financial support made available to us by government to make real strides in provision for students. Our progress in all areas of our work has been recognised nationally and in 2008/09 we were the most improved school in the Local Authority. Our results in 2009/10 are projected to be close to national averages – a remarkable achievement made possible by careful planning and a good quality of teaching and learning.
Our OFSTED monitoring inspection in December 2009 judged the school as "good".
I have been delighted with recruitment to the school since opening and very pleased with our partnership with HAYS. Our turnover of staff is very low. We have already established a record of supporting people in their quest for promoted posts - and I am keen to attract those who are excited about being involved in curriculum development, who are hungry to innovate and motivated by the quality of relationships they can develop with students.
I can promise you that we will have high expectations of you, take your induction and development very seriously, ensure opportunities are available to match your vision and support you in all areas of your work.
