Automotive Centre of Excellence, Team Valley
Gateshead College’s £5.5 million state-of-the-art Automotive
Centre of Excellence (ACE), which is based on the Team Valley boasts
the most up-to-date facilities in the region. The facility is awarded
Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) status for Automotive Technology
and Logistics by the Learning & Skills Council.
This employer led facility is the best in the region for automotive,
manufacturing and logistics training. It enhances the college’s
capability to deliver courses, bespoke training programmes and Apprenticeships
that meet the skills needs of the industry and will lead to measurable
increases in productivity.
Gateshead International Stadium
Work is due to complete on the new facility at Gateshead International
Stadium – where all Gateshead college students studying sport
will be based. Due to open in April 2006, this cutting edge sport facility
will be the only of its kind in the region.
As well as being a permanent home to our sports students it will also
be shared by the English Institute of Sport (EIS), bringing the centre
into a network of nine national multi-sport elite facilities.
New Campus, Gateshead Quayside
Gateshead college have exchanged contracts to give the official go ahead
for the prestigious new main campus at Baltic Business Quarter, Gateshead
Quayside. The landmark feature will represent growth and development
in learning for both local communities and businesses. Work is now set
to begin on the £36.5 million development with a completion date
of early 2008. This is the third phase of the college’s ambitious
£46 million accommodation strategy creating a completely new-look
college across three campuses.
Quite simply, this is an exciting opportunity not to be missed.
