Westgate Plaza, Barnsley (500 kW)

In Nov 2006, Econergy commissioned a 500KW wood fuelled boiler in Barnsley Council’s new Westgate Plaza offices. The boiler will also provide renewable heat to the Town hall and Central Library via underground heat pipes.

Sheffield Road Flats, Barnsley (500KW)

Wood fuel heating at Sheffield Road Flats

In 2005 wood heating was installed by Econergy to provide community district heating for 3 tower blocks with 166 flats. Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council has adopted a policy of positive preference for biomass heating and intends to apply wood heating throughout their building portfolio where space and access permits.

National Star College, Cheltenham, 820kW

February 2009 saw the switch on of the new energy  centre and district heating system at National Star College. This special needs college used to be heated by 20 separate oil boilers. Econergy provided a complete design and build project starting with the empty boiler house shell, including all pipework and local connections. The energy centre includes two fully automatic, high efficiency Froling Turbomat wood chip boilers, 500 and 320kW with 15,000 litres of buffer tanks and two 585kW oil boilers.

Rocks Green, District Heating, 91 houses

This exciting district heating scheme to supply 91 affordable houses in Ludlow for South Shropshire Housing Association confirms Econergy as one of the leading biomass district heating specialist in the UK. The  central boiler house contains two 150kW fully automatic KWB Powerfire biomass boilers together with a 200kW back up oil boiler. The system feeds 1200m of underground twin insulated heat mains providing continuous hot water for heat and domestic hot water to the development.

Wilton Park

Wilton Park is an Executive Agency of the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office. As a government entity, Wilton Park recognised that it could take action to help reduce carbon emissions and provide a positive lead in the uptake of carbon lean technology, in direct support of the government’s energy strategy. A KWB 150kW TDS Powerfire boiler, wood chip fuel store, fuel feed system, 1,500 litre buffer tank, expansion tank and flue are located in a containerised boiler house, supplied by Econergy.
