There have been major changes at Ealing Council in recent years. During 2005, Ealing undertook a carefully planned recruitment programme of senior managers, including a new chief executive and new corporate board. In the May 2006 elections, political control of the Council was won by the Conservatives.
With a new political and executive leadership in place we have been in a very strong position to dramatically improve the Council and the services we provide to our residents and customers
Ealing has 69 councillors and is Conservative controlled.
There are 37 Conservative councillors, 29 Labour and 3 Liberal Democrat.
Ealing operates a ‘cabinet model’ of administration with a Leader of the Council and portfolio holders making up the nine-person Cabinet. This is supported by seven area committees, scrutiny committees (reviewing decisions, performance and services), regulatory committees, e.g. town planning and other panels and advisory committees as required.
The cabinet portfolios are:
The Chief Whip has an ex-officio role on the Cabinet.
Ealing has a Corporate Board consisting of the Chief Executive and four Executive Directors.

We have also created a dynamic Corporate Leadership Team made up of the Chief Executive, executive directors, service directors and the heads of supporting / specialist functions e.g. finance, legal etc. The Corporate Leadership Team meet monthly to review the Council’s performance, strategy and direction.
