For nearly 30 years I worked for one of the UK’s major banking and insurance groups. I enjoyed a variety of business development and sales management roles across Wales and managed product development and strategic alliances at head office level. All of these roles had their rewards, however latterly something began to be missing; I needed a fresh challenge outside of mainstream financial services. Age Concern Gwent presented me with the opportunity - to manage the Charity’s Insurance & Product Service. A role that enables me to continue to utilise previously acquired skills and competencies but in an environment where priorities and objectives are focussed on the needs of local older people within our community. In particular, the unique combination of business development and social welfare whereby all profits generated from the sale of insurance and other products go to financially support the charity’s services across Gwent. In addition to the autonomy I enjoy in my role and the immense job satisfaction, there is an attractive benefits package including 29 days annual leave.
