Towns such as Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline and Glenrothes are popular with those who wish to keep their finger on the pulse and enjoy the bustle of city life but without the downfalls of parking limitations and traffic jams.

Quiet, small towns with an active community as well as local shops and pubs.

Fife Council has been officially awarded five European blue-flag awards for its clean beaches. In many town such as Anstruther and Elie there are several quaint little restaurants to choose from, some located on the harbour offering beautiful views of the Sea front.

How do I travel in and around Fife?

There is a good express coach network linking Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Leven, Glenrothes, Cupar and St Andrews, complemented by local bus networks in each town.
The Fife Circle and Edinburgh-Dundee lines allow easy and frequent train travel too. For example, take the train to Deep Sea World or Aberdour Castle; the bus to Culross or Falkland Palaces; have a day out at the beach in St Andrews by bus, walk part of the Fife Coastal Path and get the bus or train back to your starting point.

If you're getting around by car then Fife has many good road networks to take you from place to place. The A92 cuts through the Kingdom linking north with south while the M90 travels through the Kingdom, and notably Dunfermline, before leaving the area to head north. Many smaller, more scenic routes connect the smaller towns and villages and all are well signposted to help you on your way.
